at first i would like to thank you all that have answered my questions.
Anton gave me a little script for testing. Which i tried in the
following environment :

- HP ML370
- 2x CPU 1 GHz Xeon 256kB Cache
- 1 GB RAM
- all HDs on one SCSI bus
- RedHat 3 ES
- Oracle 10g without any patches
- no tuning at all

You find the results in the attachment to this mail. I will test 8i
later this week and i will try to tune my 10g database but this may take
a while because i do not know much about 10g in the moment. I guess
there are a lot differences to 8i.

Have fun,

Maurice
